William Barrett, Sr.

William Thomas Barrett, Sr. March 9, 1940-April 30, 2012

William T. Barrett, age 72, of McBride, Michigan, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at his home.

William T Barrett was born on March 9, 1940 in Ionia, Michigan. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Velma (Lee) and Paul Tiffany. He married Linda A. Barrett (Marlin) on March 14, 1959.

William Barrett is survived by his wife, Linda, three sons, William Thomas Jr (Karol) Barrett of Battle Creek, Michigan; Richard L. (Iana) Barrett of Houston ,Texas and their children Miako (Ashton) Quinn and Richard (Rosa) Barrett; Thomas S. (Jenny) Barrett and their children Deric, Alex Barrett and Justin Hill of Groves Texas; and their only daughter Angelina S. (Robert) Bass of Sumner, Michigan and their children Miranda (Branden) Sanders, Julie (Vince) Bass, Jeana (Chad) Bass , Stephanie (Thomas) Stevens, Benjamin (Amanda) Bass, and MaLesha (Nick) Burt. He was also a very proud great-grandpa. Also surviving are Bill’s siblings Shirley (Mike) Straka of Ionia, Michigan, Gloria Phillips of Yuma, Arizona, Dean (Jane) Ward of Tempe, Arizona, Vonnie (Tom) Cross of Blanchard, Michigan, and Debbie (Bob) Tozzi of Suisun, California and many nieces and nephews.

While in high school he played sports and continued “playing” by spending many hours watching football and predicting the next play (in which he was usually right). He was especially a Detroit Lions and University of Michigan Fan. While his children were growing up he and the family spent many of the summer vacations traveling to different places. He spent many years of his life teaching and living as a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. He was a very spiritual man that helped spread the Good News of the Kingdom also while sharing it with his whole family. William was a man everyone would say that they respected and looked up to him greatly. His family meant absolutely everything to him, and in return he is everything to us. He was a man who lived with a purpose and was a hero to many with very few people who could ever walk in his shadows. He was a selfless man who believed in the importance of taking care of family to the fullest extent and with your whole heart, and that is exactly how he lived. He will be extremely missed by a lot of people. We love you!!!

His memorial service will be held on Saturday May 5th 2012 at 1pm at the Vestaburg Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7963 N. Caris Rd., Vestaburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses Worldwide Work, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York, 11201-2483. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma.
