Irvin “Jiggs” Walker

Age 89, of Stanton, began his eternal journey peacefully at home on the Lord’s day, Sunday, October 28, 2012.

He was born August 29, 1923 in Elsie, MI the son of George and Ruth (Risley) Walker. He grew up in St. Johns graduating from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1942. He enlisted in the Army on Nov. 19, 1948 and was honorably discharged on Jan. 10, 1955. He married MaryEllen Lee on May 28, 1949. They resided in St. Johns, Middleton, and Gull Lake before retiring to Dickerson Lake, Stanton, MI. Irvin was a member of the Nevins Lake Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, MaryEllen. Four children, Thomas Lee (Sherry) Walker of Carson City; Lee Irvin (Marci) Walker of Crestwood, KY; Esther Lee (Andre’) Sanford of Maple Rapids; Paul Lee (Amy) Walker of Middleton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six brothers, two sisters, and a brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, one great granddaughter and two sisters.

A celebration of Irvin’s life will be held Wednesday, October 31st at 11am from Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City with Pastor Dennis Ross of the Nevins Lake Church officiating. Interment will be in Payne Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial gifts to be given to Nevins Lake Church, 837 S. Nevins Rd., Stanton, MI 48888.
