Albert L. Childs

Age 85, of Breckenridge, passed into his eternal home, with family by his side, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Hearts Content in Breckenridge.

Albert was born March 23, 1927 in Porter Township the only child of Daniel and Bessie (Wheeler) Childs. He married Margaret LaClair on April 15, 1950 at Maggie’s family home. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Arena. Albert worked for Michigan Chemical for 29 years and later at Harrison Piping before retiring. He was a lifelong, active member at Countryside United Brethren Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, church board member and playing the trumpet at church services. He had helped with the Midland 4-H program. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving camping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed several years wintering in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maggie, children Debbie (Tom) Sugar, Larry (Judy) Childs, Linda (Frank) Lopez, Colene (Mark) Greening, Dan (Diane) Childs, 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with one on the way in December, eight step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11 am at Countryside United Brethren Church with Kurt Peters officiating. Interment will be in Jasper Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 3-8 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice or Parkinson’s Foundation for Research.
