John O. Roberts Jr.

Age 81, of Wheeler, passed away, Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma.

John was born January 18, 1931 in St. Louis the son John and Dagmar (Thomson) Roberts Sr. He married Alice Fisher on October 25, 1952 in Angola, IN. John was a jack-of-all-trades, owning his own mechanic shop, motorcycle and snowmobile retailer and a truck driver. He loved racing, having built his own cars and raced statewide. He raced in Daytona and was inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed time spent at family cookouts, in his garden and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice, children, Christine (Craig) Brennan of Wheeler, Johnny (Bernadette) Roberts of Wheeler, Connie (Antonio) Cardenas of Alma, Terry (Cindy) Roberts of Wheeler, Richard (Phyllis) Roberts of TN., many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers George and Bill Roberts.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11 am at the Wheeler Free Methodist Church with Pastor Henry Dufour officiating. Memorials may be made to the Wheeler Free Methodist Church or the Village of Breckenridge Splash Park Project. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge.
