David returned to the States to accept employment with the US Department of Agriculture in the Economic Research Service where he worked for 20 years before retiring to Michigan.

He was a loving husband, devoted father and a doting grandfather but still found time to be active in civic groups. He led the Pompeii Methodist Youth Fellowship with his wife Carolyn in the early years of their marriage. David became involved in Boy Scouting in 1976 as a Webelos Leader in Paraguay, continued his involvement as Scout Master for the American Boy Scout Troop in Guatemala and later in Herndon, VA. Upon returning to Michigan, he became very involved with the Ashley Boy Scout program and remained so until his death. In Virginia, David coached several youth soccer teams and later organized a co-ed Adult soccer team. Always a devoted church-goer, he became very active with the Pompeii United Methodist Church after moving back to the area. He was also a member of the Maple Valley Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Peacock of Pompeii: three daughters; Leslie (Robbie) Owens of Greensboro, NC; Lynne Peacock of Ashley and Suzie (Jeremy) Sprowl of Ithaca: three sons; Carlos Peacock of California; Jeff (Vilma) Peacock of Big Pine Key, Fl. and Andres (Paula Rodriguez) Peacock of Woodbridge, VA: five grandchildren; Lewis and Dylan Owens, Laine and Anne Katherine Sprowl and Kiani Peacock: two sisters; Mary Clement of Pittsford, MI and Betty (Erv) Hoffman of Cincinnati, OH.: four brothers; Dick (Martha) Peacock of Loveland, CO.; Chuck (Nancy) Peacock of Danville, NJ.; Dean (Ruth) Peacock of Asheville, NC. and Ken (Betty Sanford) Peacock of Hillsdale, MI. and many nieces and nephews.
