Mary L. French
Age 91, of Greenville, formerly of Crystal, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Metron of Greenville. She was born February 7, 1921 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Willamin) Shock. She married Durwood C. French. Mary worked for the area schools and hospital in their kitchens as a cook for many years. She was a member of the Crystal Church of God in Crystal and taught Sunday School for several years.
Mary is survived by her children, Bonnie (Kenneth) Sooy of Stanton, Charles French of Stanton and James (Dianne) French of Murfreesboro, Tenn., eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Grace Voorheis of Indiana and a brother, Paul Shock of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Durwood, a great-grandson, Stephen DuVall and a sister, Fern Higgins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 3pm at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Stanton with Pastor Kurt Hofman officiating. Interment will be in McBride Cemetery at a later date. Memorial conributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding SE, Ada, MI 49301 or Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 400 N.
