Doris E. Lloyd

Doris Lloyd, age 67 of Alma, MI, passed away Friday, January 25, at Gratiot Community Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Doris was born on July 8, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Elmer J. and Ethel G. (Rosier) Morrow. She was adopted by Frances (Allen) Ingersoll after the death of her parents. She grew up in Baltimore, and married the love of her life, Jack C. Lloyd, on March 13, 1971. Jack was a career military man so they lived in several places, settling in Alma in 1997 after his retirement. Doris worked in food services, housekeeping, and factories –but she saw her most important career as a homemaker, taking care of her husband and her sons, Jack Jr. and Allen. Doris liked bingo, card games and the occasional trip to a casino. She was a loving and caring person who always had coffee and a shoulder for family and friends.

She is survived by (Jack) her husband of 42 years, her son Allen (friend Nicole Hickerson) of Midland, her daughter-in-law Teresa of Alma, her adoptive mother Frances, and her beloved grandchildren: Gracie Lloyd, Alex Lloyd and Aaliyah Lloyd. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara and Ruth. She will be sadly missed by them and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Jr. in 2003, her parents, her brother and three sisters.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma on Wednesday, January 30th from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31st, at 11am at the Community Baptist Church of Alma, 270 Purdy St., Alma –where Jack and Doris are members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, designated for the Gratiot County Relay for Life.
