Wayne Lee Shinabarger
Age 79, of Carson City, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Laurels of Fulton.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 20th at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City with Rev. Mike McAlvey and Rev. Roger Burk officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8pm. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Shinabarger Family.
Wayne was born July 15, 1933 in Carson City the son of George W. and Freda V.(Topper) Shinabarger. He graduated from Carson City High School in 1951 and married Janet McCuaig on December 29, 1952. He entered the Navy shortly after, during the Korean War, and served until his honorable discharge in 1956. Wayne worked as a machine operator for 25 years with Alma Plastics retiring in 1984. He also worked for Carson City - Crystal Public Schools as a janitor and for Six Lakes Pleasure Point Resort. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, fixing things, hot air balloons, flying his remote control airplane with friends in the Prop Busters Club and riding his motorcycle. Wayne was a member of the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church and a Life Member of the American Legion of Carson City.
He is survived by two sons, Bradley (Donna) Shinabarger of Sheridan and Bart (Penny) Shinabarger of Carson City, four daughters, Penny (Dennis) Lance of Carson City, Jannice Shinabarger of Carson City, Candi (William) McAlvey of Carson City and Carol (Stephen) Anderson of Livonia, 25 grandchildren, including Cassy Rozga and Caleb Pinkerton whom Wayne and Janet raised as their own, and 18 great grandchildren. Also a brother, Lyle (Betty) Shinabarger of Carson City and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Beard of Crystal and June McCuaig of Carson City.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet, daughter, Amy Pinkerton, son, Brett Shinabarger, grandson, Jes Shinabarger, great grandson, Troy McAlvey and two siblings, Donald Shinabarger and Gloria Baney.
