Allen “Hap” Harper
Age 77, of Breckenridge, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, August 19, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma.
Hap was born March 31, 1936 in Porter Township the son of Russell and Tressa (Horning) Harper. He married Paula F. Howard on February 7, 1959 at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. He started working as a meat cutter as a young man and worked for Arch’s Slaughter House, Helman’s Meat Market, Giant Supermarket and Siler’s Grocery in Breckenridge. Hap was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Louis. He enjoyed gardening, cards, doing puzzles and loved children, especially serving with Paula at their day care.
He is survived by his wife Paula of Breckenridge, children Amy Korth of Breckenridge, Tracie (Randy) Nagel of Ellsworth, Mark (Taryn) Harper of South Caroline, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also sisters Audrey Hamlin and Fern Jensen.
Hap was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Harper and sister Joan Dunn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis with Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge.
